Soul of Life… What does it mean to you? What is my interpretation of those three not so simple words…
Soul of Life had to be a composition. A composition with the four elements: the fire, the air, the water and the earth. In French, le feu, l’air, l’eau et la terre. All are needed for life, for living. All of them are necessary to grow and go forward…
By taking the first letter of each word in the French language, F, E, T, A, we are able to spell another word: feta, like the cheese. Food, another element essential to life… Soul of Life! A composition…
Soul of Life is represented in my work of human beings from different countries: an Asian woman and an Native Indian woman from the country were I was born, Canada. No walls, no barriers, no stops. Same, same but different? Yes of course. But we are all part of the Soul of Life. A composition…
Fish as animal, as food…
Plants, mineral… Everything was important to show. All of it was part of my composition, of my understanding of the subject.
It wasn’t possible for me to represent that deep feeling in a single sculpture. Soul of Life is many things… Soul of Life is a huge composition and every element is important.
